What Should I Use After Microneedling?

What Should I Use After Microneedling?

For patients looking for smoother texture, softer fine lines, reduced acne scarring, and an overall boost in radiance, microneedling is one of the most effective treatments we offer. And when it's paired with medical-grade skincare products, microneedling's skin-rejuvenating benefits are maximized even further.
You've already received your Post-Care Instructions — but what should actually go on your skin in the hours and days that follow? Here's the breakdown.

What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Under professional, medical-grade care, this triggers your body's natural healing response — stimulating new collagen and elastin production that leads to smoother texture, softer lines, and a more even, radiant complexion over time.
As with any injury, though, what you put on your skin while it heals matters just as much as the treatment itself. The right aftercare keeps skin calm and supported; the wrong products can slow healing, cause irritation, or undermine your results altogether.
Immediately After Treatment (On the Way Home)
Your skin is at its most sensitive right after your appointment, so simplicity is key.
  • Only touch your face with clean hands.
  • If you apply anything at all, use a thin layer of hyaluronic acid serum — just enough to keep skin hydrated without overwhelming it.
  • Avoid layering on anything heavier than that until your skin has had time to begin healing.
Per your Post-Care Instructions: do not wash your face until the following morning — use a gentle cleanser or warm water only. Do not apply sunscreen for 12 hours following treatment, and avoid exercise or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours, since sweat can irritate freshly treated skin.
What to Avoid After Microneedling
While your skin is healing, steer clear of:
  • Retinol (including our Line Refine Retinol/Bakuchiol Serum) — too active for freshly treated skin
  • Exfoliants (glycolic or salicylic acid products, including Polished Cleanser and Daily Renewal Pads) — these can irritate and disrupt the healing process
  • Makeup — pores are open and more vulnerable to congestion and bacteria right after treatment
Your Recovery Timeline

Right after treatment / on the way home: Clean hands only, thin layer of hyaluronic acid serum if desired
Until the next morning: No washing your face — gentle cleanser or warm water only, once you do wash
After 24 hours: Introduce Mist Me Toner. Its blend of green and white tea, chamomile, and witch hazel gently refreshes and calms the skin without disrupting healing — perfect for lightly misting throughout the day.

After 48 hours (Day 2): You can return to a fuller routine. Layer a hyaluronic acid serum, our Dream Cream, and our Pro-Heal Serum. Pro-Heal's chlorophyll, melatonin, and willow bark help calm redness and support healing, while Dream Cream's peptides, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid replenish hydration and support the skin barrier as new collagen forms.

Ongoing recovery: Continue to hold off on retinol and exfoliating acids until your esthetician clears you to reintroduce them, typically around a week post-treatment — everyone heals at a slightly different pace.

The Bottom Line

Microneedling does the work of triggering your skin's natural renewal — the products you use afterward determine how smoothly (and how well) that renewal shows up. Keep it simple immediately after treatment, lean on Mist Me Toner at 24 hours, and bring in Dream Cream and Pro-Heal Serum at the 48-hour mark to support healing and lock in your results.
