Best Products for Texture & Uneven Skintone

What Do "Texture" and "Uneven Skin Tone" Actually Mean?

Textured skin is typically characterized by a surface that feels rough or bumpy rather than smooth — think enlarged pores, small raised bumps, dry flaky patches, or the lingering pitting and roughness left behind by acne scarring. It's caused by a buildup of dead skin cells on the surface that aren't shedding efficiently, along with disrupted collagen in areas affected by past breakouts.

Uneven skin tone, on the other hand, shows up as patches of discoloration — sun spots, post-acne marks, melasma, or general blotchiness — where pigment (melanin) is being overproduced in some areas and not others. It's usually triggered by sun exposure, hormonal shifts, or inflammation.
The two concerns often show up together, and treating them takes a layered approach: surface exfoliation to smooth texture, and targeted actives to correct pigment and even out tone. Here's the product lineup we recommend, and exactly how each one works.

Polished Cleanser — 10% Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser

Key ingredients: 10% glycolic acid, liposomal vitamins A, C, and E, green tea extract, Coenzyme Q10
Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that loosens the bonds between dead skin cells, encouraging them to shed so smoother, more even-toned skin can surface. At 10%, Polished Cleanser delivers professional-strength exfoliation daily without stripping the skin, while the liposomal antioxidants defend against the free radical damage that contributes to uneven tone in the first place.

Daily Renewal Pads

Key ingredients: Pharmaceutical-grade glycolic acid, salicylic acid
These pads combine surface-level exfoliation from glycolic acid with salicylic acid's ability to penetrate into the pore and clear out debris and oil. Used a few nights a week, they accelerate the removal of dead skin cells and surface oil, improving both rough texture and clogged, enlarged pores without over-drying.
Brighten Pads

Key ingredients: Kojic acid, bearberry, arbutin, green tea polyphenols, L-ascorbic vitamin C, and customizable hydroquinone (4%–10%)
This is our dedicated pigment-correcting treatment. Kojic acid, bearberry, and arbutin work together to interrupt melanin production and fade existing discoloration, while green tea polyphenols and vitamin C add antioxidant protection. For more resistant or long-standing discoloration, we can custom-blend in hydroquinone to dramatically accelerate the brightening effect — something we tailor to each patient during a consultation.

Line Refine — Retinol/Bakuchiol Serum

Key ingredients: All-trans-retinol (.25%), bakuchiol, licorice root, green tea polyphenols, caffeine
Retinol is clinically proven to resurface and retexturize skin at a deeper level than exfoliation alone, improving the look of scarring, pore size, and fine lines over time. Licorice root specifically targets discoloration from sun damage, hormones, and acne scarring, while bakuchiol calms redness and adds antioxidant support so the formula stays comfortable for regular use.
Super Serum

Key ingredients: 20% L-ascorbic acid vitamin C, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, ferulic acid, tocopherol (vitamin E), sodium hyaluronate, niacinamide
Daily antioxidant protection is what makes your other treatments last. L-ascorbic acid and ferulic acid work together to neutralize free radical damage from UV and environmental stressors, fade existing pigmentation, and stimulate collagen — directly supporting both smoother texture and more even tone over time.

How They Work Together

AM: Polished Cleanser → Super Serum → moisturizer → SPF
PM: Polished Cleanser → Brighten Pads or Line Refine (alternating nights) → moisturizer 2–3x/week: Swap in Daily Renewal Pads in place of Brighten Pads or Line Refine
